About Vanderlande and the Role

Vanderlande is a leading global provider of innovative and high-performance solutions for airport logistics, specializing in baggage and cargo handling systems, advanced software, and comprehensive maintenance services. We are seeking a Site Engineer – Electrical to join our Project Execution team in Jeddah, KSA. This is a full-time position focused on supporting projects primarily within the Makkah region.

Role Overview

The Site Engineer – Electrical will provide essential support to the site manager, focusing on the electrical installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment across various projects. This role involves guiding subcontractors, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards within industrial automation and material handling systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the site manager regarding electrical installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment.
• Guide and educate subcontractors on installation best practices.
• Provide input for upcoming projects to the proposals department and share lessons learned.
• Coordinate with the construction and procurement departments to identify required tools and consumables for site execution.
• Analyze specifications, design drawings, and other materials for electrical installation as per approved material submittals.
• Research, design, develop, and test electrical industrial control systems; create electrical design documents for parts, assemblies, and products.
• Act as a technical project leader, taking full ownership of deliverables.
• Manage and ensure adherence to all project quality procedures applicable to design.
• Develop knowledge of engineering-based CAD software to complete drawings.
• Prepare work packages for site installation teams.
• Monitor and report site progress.
• Support the quality team with inspections, closing out snag points, and eventual handover to the client.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, security, environment, and quality standards.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in electrical design and installation practices within the industrial automation domain.
• Specific experience in Baggage Handling or Material Handling Systems is required.

Required Skills and Technical Knowledge

• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, and ePlan.
• PLC knowledge is considered an advantage.
• Ability to read, understand, and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design and installation practices.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.

Work Environment and Travel

This full-time role is based in Jeddah, KSA, supporting projects within the Makkah region. The position requires a willingness to work on projects outside of KSA as needed.
