Position Summary

The Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing customer vehicles to OEM specifications, within standard labour times, and to first-time-right quality.

The role directly drives workshop productivity, customer satisfaction, and aftersales profitability by combining strong technical capability with disciplined adherence to standard operating procedures, quality standards, safety compliance, and workshop housekeeping. The Technician plays a critical role in ensuring efficient workshop flow, reducing customer comeback rates, and maintaining the dealership’s service reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Repair & Maintenance

• Perform scheduled maintenance, mechanical repairs, and diagnostic work on customer vehicles in accordance with OEM standards and dealership processes

• Complete assigned Repair Orders (ROs) within standard labour times while maintaining high repair quality and efficiency

• Carry out inspections during servicing and identify additional repair requirements, reporting findings clearly to the Service Advisor for customer approval

• Ensure all repair work is completed accurately and aligned with manufacturer specifications and technical procedures

Diagnosis & Quality Assurance

• Use OEM diagnostic tools, scan systems, and troubleshooting procedures to identify root causes of vehicle faults accurately

• Perform road tests and final quality inspections to verify repair effectiveness before handing vehicles back to the Service Advisor

• Complete all technical check sheets, inspection reports, and job logs accurately for every service and repair activity

• Support reduction of repeat repairs and customer comeback cases through strong first-time-right execution

Safety, Tools & Workshop Discipline

• Use Special Service Tools (SSTs), lifting equipment, and workshop machinery correctly and safely at all times

• Report damaged tools, calibration requirements, or equipment faults immediately to the Workshop Supervisor

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation aligned with 5S standards and OEM housekeeping requirements

• Strictly follow PPE usage, lifting procedures, chemical handling standards, and workshop HSE protocols

Continuous Learning & Technical Development

• Complete all OEM technical training programmes and internal certification requirements to maintain technical competency

• Stay updated on Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), recall campaigns, software updates, and new model repair procedures issued by the manufacturer

• Support workshop continuous improvement initiatives by sharing technical knowledge and learnings from complex repair cases with peers and supervisors

• Build capability in emerging technologies including Hybrid, EV, ADAS, and connected vehicle systems where applicable

Skills

Educational Requirements

• Automotive Diploma, Vocational Certificate, or equivalent technical qualification

• OEM technical certification is highly desirable

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on workshop experience within a franchised automotive dealership environment

Technical Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge across engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking, and electrical systems

• Working proficiency in OEM diagnostic platforms, scan tools, and electronic troubleshooting systems

• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, workshop manuals, and technical repair documentation

• Basic computer literacy for DMS usage, job booking updates, and digital inspection reporting

• Familiarity with hybrid and EV systems is considered a strong advantage
