Role Description The Senior Technician Carpenter and Scaffolder is a full-time, on-site role based in Umluj. This position is responsible for performing advanced carpentry tasks, including measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing structural and finishing elements such as framing, formwork, doors, windows, and partitions in line with project drawings and specifications. The role also involves planning, erecting, inspecting, and dismantling scaffolding systems, ensuring they comply with safety regulations and support ongoing construction activities. Day-to-day duties include leading or guiding junior technicians, coordinating with site supervisors, maintaining tools and equipment, and documenting work progress. The Senior Technician Carpenter and Scaffolder is expected to follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and help maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications

Strong carpentry experience, including structural and finishing work, reading drawings, and using hand and power tools safely and effectively. Proficiency in scaffolding erection, modification, and dismantling, with practical knowledge of safety standards, load capacity, and inspection procedures. Ability to interpret technical plans and measurements, perform accurate layout work, and collaborate with site engineers and supervisors. Demonstrated leadership in supervising or mentoring junior technicians, coordinating tasks, and working as part of a diverse site team. Commitment to workplace safety, including use of personal protective equipment, adherence to site rules, and participation in safety briefings. Previous experience in construction or a related field; vocational training or certification in carpentry, scaffolding, or construction trades is preferred. Physical ability to perform manual labor, work at heights, and handle materials and equipment in varying outdoor conditions. Basic communication skills to report issues, follow instructions, and document work; ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds.
