Job Title: BIM Engineer (Architectural – Modular Design & DFMA)
Job Summary:
- The BIM Engineer (Architectural) will play a critical role in supporting the design, coordination, and delivery of modular construction projects, focusing on the architectural scope. Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies, the BIM Engineer will develop, manage, and maintain 3D models, ensuring all aspects are fully integrated and compliant with project requirements, codes, and standards.
- This position requires collaboration with project teams, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that all modular components are accurately modeled, fabricated, and installed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
BIM Modeling & Coordination:
- Create, modify, and manage detailed 3D BIM models for architectural elements using Revit software. Ensure seamless integration with structural, MEP, and other design disciplines.
Design & Detailing for Fit-Out and Façade:
- Develop accurate and detailed BIM models for modular fit-out elements (such as interior partitions, flooring, ceilings, doors, and windows) and façade systems (including cladding, glazing, and external finishes). Coordinate with design teams to ensure that all architectural components are properly detailed and modeled.
Collaboration with Cross-Disciplinary Teams:
- Coordinate the architectural BIM model with other project teams, including structural, MEP engineers, contractors, and fabrication teams to ensure all components fit together seamlessly in the modular construction process. Identify and resolve any conflicts or clashes within the model (clash detection).
BIM Documentation & Reporting:
- Generate detailed drawings, schedules, and reports from the BIM model for use in construction, fabrication, and installation phases. Maintain an accurate record of all design changes and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
Modular Construction Integration:
- Work closely with the modular fabrication teams to ensure the architectural design is efficiently translated into modular components. Review fabrication drawings and shop drawings to ensure they align with the BIM model and design intent.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure all BIM models and documentation meet quality standards, project specifications, and compliance with building codes, regulations, and client requirements. Perform regular model audits and updates to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in BIM, specifically in architectural design and coordination within modular construction projects.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit (mandatory), Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other relevant design tools. Knowledge of modular construction processes, including prefabrication and assembly techniques, is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Architectural Design:
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles, with specific expertise in fit-out design (interior layouts, finishes, etc.) and façade systems (cladding, glazing, exterior finishes).
- Clash Detection & Coordination:
- Experience with clash detection tools and processes, ensuring that all design elements are coordinated and free from conflicts.
