Organizational Background:

JSI is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. Founded in 1978, JSI collaborates with government agencies, the private sector, and local nonprofit and civil society organizations to identify and implement solutions to the most pressing public health and education challenges.

In Yemen, JSI has been managing public health programs since 1988, focusing on improving reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health and strengthening the supply chain.

Project Overview

The Strengthening Healthcare Access project is a five-year USAID-funded initiative aimed at enhancing access to and equitable utilization of evidence-based maternal, newborn, and child health; nutrition; family planning; and reproductive health (MNCHN/FP/RH) services in Yemen. Led by JSI, the project collaborates with partners to employ a community-led strategy encompassing demand generation, supply-side reinforcement, and enabling environment support. Through engagement with midwives, community reproductive health volunteers, and community structures, the project will create awareness, facilitate access, and enhance care quality. 

Position Description:

The Program Assistants will be responsible for providing general administrative & operation assistance within the program team with regards to project implementation and management, and day-to-day liaison with counterparts and project partners focusing on activities related to health facility. He/she will support the program team in the implementation of activities and provide a variety of administrative, coordination and logistical services.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Asses in facilitation with health authorities at governorate and district levels.  
  • Raise Purchase Requests and prepare payment requests and follow-up on their approval by liaising with finance and administrative department  
  • Conduct local purchases within the thresholds for petty cash procurement allowed by JSI policy to facilitate the health facility related activities.
  • Be responsible for the overall preparations and logistical arrangements/booking of meetings, workshops and other events related to the project activities.
  • Be responsible for cash advance requested for project related activities (request, utilization and liquidation) 
  • Ensure proper communication and facilitation with the health authorities and stakeholders about the project.
  • Prepare meetings and workshops materials related to overall health program.  
  • Payment preparation for the attendees of project events. 
  • Asses in preparing movement plans for program staff to facilitate the implementation of activities threat field level.
  • Organize and maintain the program filing system regularly and maintain tracking of official letters.
  • Assess in the monitoring and supervising the field activities.
  • Follow and support all policies and requirements related to staff safety and security; 
  • Uphold JSI’s policies around accountability, fraud/ethics management, child safeguarding, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse; 
  • Travel to field sites, as necessary; 
  • Any additional responsibilities, as assigned by the supervisor.

 Qualifications:

  • University Degree from an accredited academic institution in Social Science/Public Relation/Administration.
  • At least two years’ work experience with local/International NGO.  
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Good computer skills, specifically in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team member.
