Senior Communication & Advocacy Officer

 

About JNCW:

Chaired by HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal, with the membership of relevant ministers and representatives of civil society organizations and the private sector, the Jordanian National Commission for women was established in 1992 by Council of Ministers Resolution No. (3382/11/21), to advance the status of women in Jordan and increase their contribution to sustainable development, as part of Jordan’s undertakings at the national, Arab and international levels. On 21/9/1996, the Council of Ministers decided to consider JNCW the reference for all official bodies and the representative of Jordan in all matters related to women’s activities and affairs. JNCW’s duties and responsibilities can be summarized under the following main areas of work:

  • Integrating women’s issues and priorities in national strategies, policies, legislations, plans and budgets.
  • Monitoring and assessing the current situation of cases of discrimination against women, and following up on achievements in the area of equal opportunities.
  • Advocating women’s issues and raising awareness of the importance of women’s role and participation in achieving sustainable national development.

Brief about this post:

The senior communication and advocacy officer will support the Unit’s manager in the development of strategic and operational communication & Advocacy plans, as well as in the implementation duties.

He/ She will also play a key role in supporting the Communication and advocacy manager in directing the workflow inside the unit facilitating interdepartmental communications between the team members and managing external communications as well.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager in allocating resources to implement the departmental plans and goals.
  • Assist the manager in developing project/ campaign plans.
  • Follow up on Unit’s internal schedule to make sure all tasks are delivered in a timely manner by all tam members.
  • Supervise all social media accounts, and coordinate with the social media officer and the communication specialist to make sure all content in synchronized across all JNCW’s platforms.
  • Work directly with the Communication Specialist to ensure all PR plans, press releases and media relations and interactions are on track achieving the set plans.
  • Ensure all output from all team members is meeting the deadlines and goals set in plans.
  • Oversee the implementation of campaign/ project plans and make sure all done in a timely manner in coordination with the team members and the unit’s manager
  • To undertake quality control of the content and materials and designs generated by the unit, ensuring all branding and visual identity guidelines are applied.
  • Assist the manager & team members in analyzing and deciding on the service vendors according to the organization’s guidelines and rules.
  • Assist the manager in reviewing and revising the content generated by other team members (social media, website, annual reports, press releases, publications), in addition to review the content received by other units inside the commission.
  • To assist the manager in evaluating and identifying internal development and improvement opportunities.
  • To assist the manager in reviewing the work delivered by external service providers throughout different projects and activities.
  • To assist in developing & submitting performance reports on the middle management level that show performance and results measured against communication, and advocacy plans.
  • To follow up with team members on issuing required performance reports inside the unit (media reports, campaign reports, project reports.
  • Ensure the unit’s database is up to date, in addition to coordinating with all team members to track their archives (photos, videos, campaigns, press releases, reports, … etc)
  • Work directly with the events and visual media officer to ensure their delivery on implementing the necessary logistics across all event/ campaigns.
  • Act as the point of coordination between the communication & advocacy unit and other units inside the commission
  • To monitor the commission’s website and make sure it is up to date, and coordinate necessary updates with the events & visual media officer.
  • To perform any other job-related tasks assigned by the direct manager.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business administration any related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a related field.
  • Excellent linguistic skills in Arabic in specific, and English.
  • Strong writing skills in Arabic and English.
  • Ability to multi-task between projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills.
